Most chiropractors regard the elimination of symptoms as the easiest part of a person's care; however, if all the chiropractor does is reduce the pain and stop there, even if done so effectively, the chances of the symptoms recurring are much greater. A hospital patient, upon being diagnosed with heart disease, does not receive medical care simply for the symptoms that sent him or her to the doctor, but for the root source, and the same should hold true for chiropractic care. In order to prevent a rapid recurrence of symptoms, it is necessary to continue treatment until the underlying condition has been fully eliminated.
During the correction/restorative phase of your care, you will not have to receive adjustments as often as you did during the initial pain relief phase, as treatment is less intensive. Depending on your particular circumstances, you may also begin doing exercises and stretches either at the clinic or at home to help accelerate your healing. At McCarter Health Center we have not only chiropractors, but a liscenced physical therapist and a massage therapist as well, who work with patients alongside the doctors to ensure a well-rounded treatment and wellness plan.
Do not be discouraged if you have mild flare-ups in your symptoms on occasion - this is normal. Flare-ups are bound to occur during this phase because your body has not fully healed. Depending on the severity of your injury or condition and how long you have been suffering from it, this phase of your care may last anywhere from a few months to a couple of years.
These people are wonderful and they are there for you in time of need. Darrin Marsh has enabled me to have a better life without so much pain that I have every day.
