Your First Visit
Upon entering our office, you will be greeted by the receptionist, and immediately welcomed into the McCarter Chiropractic family. We will request you fill out our patient forms, which are also located on the website under New Patient Center, and can be viewed or printed and completed prior to your first appointment, at your convenience. This paperwork provides us with general information about yourself and your condition.
Next, you will have a consultation with Dr. McCarter to discuss your health-related problems and concerns, as well as potential treatment options. Your first visit is designed for he or she to learn more about you, your condition, and your expectations, in order to determine whether chiropractic care will help you to meet your health and wellness goals.
After your consultation, Dr. McCarter will perform a complete chiropractic examination: testing your reflexes, your ability to turn and bend, as well as other standard neurologic, orthopedic, postural, and physical examinations. Nothing will be done in our office without your consent.
Your specific condition may require us to take x-rays in order to get a fuller patient evaluation. X-rays help us rule out other more serious conditions, or assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan for you. Most people are amazed once they see their x-rays and can themselves easily identify misalignments and degeneration.
Once all the information and examinations have been performed, Dr. Doctor McCarter will give you a report of findings to answer the three most popular questions:
Can you help me?
What do you recommend that I do to get better?
How much is it going to cost?
After discussing your history and goals with you, examining your spine, and reviewing any x-rays or tests, Dr. Doctor McCarter will give his or her professional recommendations. If you have a condition that requires care with other providers, the doctor will tell you; if Dr. Doctor McCarter believes that we can help you, then he or she will recommend treatment as well as a personal wellness program.
Initial treatment is generally provided at the conclusion of your first appointment. This may include spinal adjustments, physicaltherapies, and/or soft tissue therapies. Treatment is 100% interactive, so you are free express any concerns you may have about the style of adjustment and therapies you will be receiving. Our priority is to work with you so that you may always have the best and most comfortable experience possible within our facilities.
Prior to leaving, you will be instructed on a personal wellness program to be conducted at home. If you are in pain when you first come into our office, this may include ice or heat application instructions, avoidance of certain activities or positions, taking specific supplements, as well as home exercises and/or stretches. If you desire an overall wellness lifestyle, the McCarter team will work with you to create good habits and routines that support your success. Every body is unique and different, therefore each patient requires a customized wellness plan. The foundation of an overall wellness lifestyle is maintaining healthy posture and good spinal alignment, eating a well-balanced diet, taking supplements, keeping your weight under control, and practicing effective stress relief techniques. Our staff takes pride in knowing that all patients are given personal guidance and individual attention, so that when you leave our office, you can feel confident that you are one step closer to acheiving optimum health.
